April - Leaf two - Four Generations
(you, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents)
-
The key to a great start in family history is having 4 generations full in your family tree. Once you do, the first 15 people, including yourself and your parents, are accounted for. Let’s talk about three steps you can take on FamilySearch.org to ensure your first 15 is full.
The first step is signing into FamilySearch to see if any of your first 15 are missing. It’s possible that someone, a relative, perhaps, has already added your grandparents or great-grandparents. To log in to FamilySearch, Click Sign In at the top right of the browser window and enter your username and password (follow the instructions on the page if you have forgotten this information).
Once you have logged in, click on Family Tree in the top of the homepage. You will be prompted to enter your own information and that of your parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents into Family Tree. When you link to ancestors who are deceased, FamilySearch will display many more generations back of your family already recorded in FamilySearch.
